change is good

20/9/2014

So, we had a great break.  And we are looking forward to the future.  And as such... we have decided to make some changes.  Or really one.  But just for now.  Change is good, right?

So, here's the thing.  We are going to close on Sundays for now.  I know we have some great regulars who love our brunch and will probably be very unhappy with our decision.  But hopefully they will be patient and understanding... and come back in the winter when we open again with a refreshed and excited outlook on brunch!!!  We don't ever want to serve you guys during a service when we basically exhausted to the point that we dread coming in.  And that is basically what it was becoming.  Leaving here late on Saturday night and then coming in at ass crack of Sunday was pretty difficult, and we are not the tasty young spring chickens that we used to be.

The trade off, is that we are going to open Monday nights 5 - 10.  So come on in!

So, we are going to be closing down for one week between September 7 -15.  Which means we will be closed Sunday to Sunday, and then reopen the following Tuesday.  (We MAY be open just for drinks during the weekend before Culture Room shows)

As some of you cannot survive for a whole 9 days without visiting us, we are offering a consolation prize!
We have friends here who have restaurants that will be open between September 7 - 15.  So, we are encouraging you to go visit them while we are closed... and then you can come back and dine with us when we reopen!  So here's the deal.  We will give you a list of restaurants to visit.  If you check in to one of those restaurants via facebook, twitter, or instagram, we will offer you 10% off your next visit (not to be combined with any other offers or gift certificates) to Hot & Soul between September 16 - October 16.  If you complete the second step listed below, you will get 20% off your next visit between September 16 - October 16!  Happy eating and we will see you on the other side!!!!

Here we have it!  Another year, another beer dinner.  Here's the link: Funky Buddha Beer Dinner

This is our second annual Funky Buddha Beer Dinner!  We are excited to offer another beer pairing dinner exactly a year after the first. This year's dinner will pair big bold Funky Buddha beers with tropical inspired dishes.  We are doing one seating at 7pm with 40 seats available total, so get your tickets here before they sell out! Tickets are $55 per person, gratuity not included.

Hot & Soul Funky Buddha Beer Pairing Dinner, August 21, 7pm

Floridian: Unfiltered and refreshing German-style wheat beer has compelling aromas of bananas, citrus, and cloves, while the all wheat and malt body perfectly captures the brilliance of an orange- and yellow-flecked Florida sunset. 5.6%

Green tropical fruit salad with Sai Oua (thai sausage), and sweet and spicy chile sauce

Passionfruit Crusher: Meet the Crusher: this poundable, single hop session IPA is brewed with 2-row barley and a touch of caramel malt for depth, accented with loads and loads of late-addition hops. The passionfruit version features copious quantities of real passionfruit for a taste that's distinctly fruity and tropical. 4.3%

Wahoo tiradito with lime, cucumber, cilantro, passionfruit infused olive oil, and pink salt

Fire in the Hole: A malty red ale that pops with pleasantly fruity undertones, chock full of whole raspberries and just enough habanero peppers to create a pleasant tingle in your throat. You've got sweet, fruity, caramel-y, spicy all in one package - it's like jam for your jelly, baby. 5.4%

Roast pork ti malice (onion, sweet & hot peppers, citrus & vinegar) with sweet potato-plantain puree

Small Axe, Big IPA: Cascade, citra, centennial, and nugget hops combine to form an aroma and flavor that's straight up tropical, with heady notes of pineapple, orange, mango, guava, and grapefruit.9.5%

Curry beef with dum aloo, sweet and sour cabbage

Snowed In: Snowed in is an imperial version of Last Snow porter. With flavors of coconut, coffee, and white chocolate, Snowed In tastes like liquid indulgency in a glass.

Waffle cone with banana custard, crushed peanuts, coconut, and "magic shell"

Hi Guys!
I realize that it has been a way long time since the last newsletter, but our newsletter writing staff went on strike and then the graphics department went on strike, and then the social media staff followed suit.  So pardon me if this newsletter isn’t flashy and slick, we aren’t good with this kind of stuff

April 9, 2014 is our one year anniversary!

Assuming something doesn’t happen before Wednesday, we will be celebrating our one year anniversary!  For Wednesday, we aren’t going to get too crazy.   We are going to be offering a special menu of some of our favorite dishes that we have made throughout the year.  We just want to celebrate with our guests who have become friends and family to us.  We are thankful for having come this far and want to share our excitement for what the future may hold.  For Wednesday, dinner will be served from 5:30 - 9:30.  Then we will continue to serve drinks til - so that we can hang out with our wonderful and loyal guests! Also, there will be cake after 9:30....

Then on Thursday, we will not be open for lunch, but we will resume regular dinner hours on Thursday night, so we can get back to business as usual and prepare for a great coming year.

Please come join us on Wednesday if you can.  And if not, we will surely have other fun events in the coming year.

other upcoming events:

April 8, 5-8pm - Lifestream Spa & Boutique grand opening of their new boutique.  There will be a fashion show and art show, music, food & drinks.  A raffle of gift certificates from Lifestream, JJ Whimsy & Hot & Soul will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

April 24, 4 - 11pm - Broward House Dining Out For Life.  We will be donating 25% of sales for that night to Broward House, which is south Florida’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS community service organization .

May 1, 4 - 11pm - Dine to Defeat ALS.  We will be donating 25% of our sales to benefit the ALS association of Western Pennsylvania.  Mike’s friend from his hometown of Punxsutawney, Duane Siple, has ALS and could use our support, so please join us on that night as well. Eat a good meal for a good cause.
